Often called “fashion’s biggest night,” the MET Gala is a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York held on the first Monday of every May. This iconic event is not only a showcase of fashion statements but also a celebration of creativity and artistic expression. This year, “Costume Art” was the annual unique theme for the event that celebrities tried to embody, and sometimes failed.
Emma Chamberlain: 11/10 – BEST DRESSED
- No notes. Perfection. Emma’s hand-painted floor-length gown is the epitome of “costume art.” She looks like she came straight from a painting to the red carpet; every accessory and makeup choice is spot on. This outfit stood out from all of the others. There’s no question that she is Best Dressed.
Sabrina Carpenter: 10/10

- As usual, Sabrina Carpenter was on theme. Despite the simple silhouette, the material – old film rolls – made her stand out to the cameras. Creative, unique, flattering, and a nod to art history? Amazing.
Grace Ling: 10/10
- Grace Ling’s outfit looks like a piece of artwork in a museum. She thoroughly understood the theme of “costume art.” She came in a long black skirt that flowed out onto the floor, and on top, a silver shirt like a knight’s.
Jack Harlow: 1/10
- Could he have tried any less? There is nothing special about this; all he is wearing is a plain black suit with a sailor’s hat. Looks like he got it from a cartoon character’s closet. He’s trying to stand out with an interesting silhouette, but it just looks like it doesn’t fit him.
Irene Pistorino: 1/10
- Did Irene know she was going to the MET Gala? She appeared in a bland red gown, complete with only two flowers. Her outfit was generic; we’ve seen this dress before. On a sales rack. In no way is this “costume art” unless your costume is a last-minute holiday party dress.
Hero Fiennes Tiffin: 0/10 – WORST DRESSED
- He just pulled this out of his closet. There simply isn’t anything to review. Hero’s suit and mediocre cravat are basic at best. There is no color, no contrast, and absolutely no costume other than his mask of pretending to care about the MET Gala theme. You can’t wear a basic suit to the MET Gala and not expect to be Worst Dressed.
